Cost & Comparison of In-Ground & Above-Ground Pools
In-ground and above-ground pools

Finally, you’ve come to the exciting decision to get a pool. But are you unsure of whether to choose an above-ground or in-ground pool? Deciding which one you want can be based on preference. Many potential pool buyers wonder what the price differences are and the pros and cons that come with each. Aqua Leisure Pools and Spas is here to make this process easier, helping you choose what is best for you.

Inground Pools

When getting an inground pool, you can design it in any shape or size you prefer. The most common pool shapes include rectangles, ovals, kidney-shaped, or lagoon style. Everything is different compared to above-ground pools. Inground pools are more expensive because of their installation price. With in-ground pools, you can get 4 types of inground pools: gunite, fiberglass, vinyl, and optimum. The cost differs for each due to factors such as the installation process. For example, fiberglass takes about 2 weeks or less, concrete takes about 4-6 weeks.

There are many reasons why an inground pool is more expensive than an above-ground pool. Once an inground pool is installed, the market value of the entire home goes up. The cost varies in installation. The construction materials, requested shape, and amenities will determine your upfront cost. Maintaining the pool is very important after installation, as you will be paying yearly pool maintenance. Sometimes people look into pool services that maintain their pool for them. You will only need the service in the summertime because you will have to close the pool come winter.

Above-Ground Pools

Above-ground pools are slightly different. This type of pool is beneficial if you would love to get a pool installed but do not have the proper backyard for an in-ground pool. The are two basic shapes that are used for above-ground pools: oval and circle. However, with those two shapes, you can get any size you want. You can get the circle shape as large as 27 feet and the oval shape can be as large as 18 x 36. People get above-ground pools because they are best if you are on a tight budget but still want to enjoy your summer. Above-ground pools only take a few days to install regardless of the shape or size.

The four common types of above-ground pools are known as steel frame, traditional, hybrid, or radiant. Above-ground pools do not add value to your home, unfortunately. The upfront cost to install your above-ground pool is much lower than that of an inground pool. Once again, you will need to factor in maintenance costs, whether you are maintaining it yourself or hiring someone to do the job.
